Every load on LoadLoom moves under verified carrier insurance, and you choose how much protection rides with it. Here is exactly what is covered, by whom, and what to do if something goes wrong. This page summarizes your Transportation Service Agreement; the agreement controls.
No carrier hauls a LoadLoom shipment without an active Certificate of Insurance (COI) on file naming ShipVista Corporation as certificate holder, alongside verified FMCSA operating authority (we re-check authority automatically every day). Carriers must maintain auto liability and cargo coverage appropriate to what they haul; a carrier whose insurance lapses is blocked from the board until the renewal is on file.
Every shipment includes carrier cargo liability at standard released rates, at no extra cost: $0.60 per pound per article, up to $100,000 for US moves, and $4.41 per kilogram ($2.00 per pound), up to CAD $100,000 for Canadian moves. Released rates are the freight industry's default liability basis; they limit recovery by weight rather than by your item's value.
If your item is worth more than the released rate would return, declare its value during booking and add full protection for 0.8% of the declared value. Your declared value is also posted to the carrier with the load, so the carrier's insurance must cover it before they can accept. For a $185,000 wheel loader, that difference matters; declare honestly, and the number on your booking is the number your claim is measured against.
Damage that predates pickup, loss caused by improper preparation on the shipper's side (an item that is not transport-ready, undisclosed hazards, personal goods left inside vehicles), ordinary wear from road transit on operable equipment, and delay itself (freight windows are estimates unless a guaranteed service was purchased) are outside cargo coverage. Undeclared or falsely declared items void full-value protection for those items.
Note damage on the delivery receipt at the moment of delivery whenever possible, photograph everything, and file your claim from your account (Support, then File a claim) within the window in your agreement. Our claims desk coordinates directly with the carrier and their insurer; you never have to chase a trucking company yourself. Claims are acknowledged when filed and answered inside the service-level window on your claim record.
